Its story delves deeper into Unitologist beliefs, and reveals the purpose of the Markers, but stops short of addressing the result of that purpose. Dead Space 2 was in the same vein, but with more open areas and set pieces. Its storyline was original and the way it was told-through voice, video, and text logs-made the unfolding chaos much more real. Its cramped, oppressive environments and “dirty future” aesthetic created an unmatched atmosphere. The original blew my expectations out of the water-it was the best horror game I’d ever played (and might still be).

Then after we get to the supply cache and back in the original elevator to go back from where we came, again Jon says 'Isaac?', and Isaac says something like 'Yeah? What? We've been stuck in this elevator for five minutes. All through the level this is all he sees. But to my buddy (who is Jon) is seeing confetti falling down, cakes in place if boxes, massive Nutcrackers in place of the oil barrels, fucked up signs like 'Daddy Hates Me'. As we left the elevator maneuver our way through the rooms, fighting a ton of Necromorphs to get to the supply cache all I see as Isaac is what it should be, oil barrels, random boxes, the usual 'old abandon facility' feeling.

So eventually the elevator turns back on and we continue descending.

What the fuck?!' And all I see (as Isaac) is Jon standing there and freaking the fuck out, saying stuff like 'Isaac?. We are about to do this side quest (not really knowing what is going to happen) and as we descend in the elevator.

I forget what the side quest was actually called, but I was Isaac and my friend was Jon.
